Christ Centred Priorities

Speaker:
Passage: Luke 14: 16-24
Service Type:

This text is the Parable of the Supper.

A great feast has been prepared for each and everyone of us. There’s a great harvest prepared for each of us. We are all invited by the Master to this feast (Matthew 6:33, Matthew 28:19)

All that we need to do is be present and making Jesus and the Church our priority. Then this supper is readily available for us.

Yes, excuses can come up when this invitation came out. In Malaysia we get excited about food. That’s not the point of the text though. When we feast, we fellowship and have community to be part of this feast. The Master was disappointed when they did not come.

We often miss the opportunity of abundance and feasting when we are not present. The harvest is ready for us to reap it.

In Jewish culture, you visit your purchased twice to confirm purchase. The man chose the day God called him to go check the land. The oxen became a priority. The marriage became a priority.

It’s about priority and where we place it. Church is the expression of God’s love and family. Sometimes we misplace the priorities and end up hating the church and miss out on the feast. Jesus loves the Church and invites us to a banquet but we hide behind a wall. It’s an opportunity for growth, change, freedom, hope etc to come.

No church is perfect because we are flawed people. When flawed people come together, you can’t expect perfection. Yet we come to church because we love each other.

Family creates chemistry. Chemistry is what creates hope and shows the church displaying His love.

The love of God is expressed through the community of the church.
We can either stay offended and move away from the church and community or we can chose to love regardless of what happens in church, believing that church is the expression of God’s heart.

If we can place our priorities in the right place, we can be an army in the world right now.

Growing up in the environment of church around the anointing changes us. Exposing ourselves to the Presence is important. Every part of the banquet, from worship to the Word, has a part to play.

We must commit to the priority of Jesus, present and available.

1. Priorities are always things we make time for. We can allocate time for God and the things of God.
2. Priorities of spending time with God will reflect in our other priorities of life as well.

We should choose to be present at the feast. God is always in the church to meet us even when imperfect people don’t meet our expectations according to our desires.

God is always here. Can we be people who are always present, always loving and part of community, with Jesus as the center?

When we say yes to God, everything we need will be released through that banquet. Refocus and reprioritize the focus on Jesus.
