The Word of God
In this MCO, we can grow physically from eating or even learning new skills. But what about our inner life and spiritually?
In every season, we can seize the opportunity to grow spiritually as believers
1 Peter 2: 1-2
Babies cry because they want milk. The milk has a direct and good effect on a baby to grow.
Likewise, spiritually, if we as believers want to grow, we need to desire the pure milk of the word of God.
Our growth is directly tied to reading the Word of God.
When we feed ourselves on the wrong thing, we can become spiritually dry. The Church is encouraged to focus on growing in the Word of the Lord in this season.
Many of us neglect reading the Word of God. Most of us do the things of God and serve Him wholeheartedly but can neglect reading the Word of God.
The only time we look at the Word is sometimes on a Saturday or Sunday service.
How often are you reading and meditating on the Word of God? A person who feeds, meditates and applies the Word of God in their lives will never become spiritually dry or burnt out.
A stable life of power is founded on the Word of God.
We know all about the information of the Word of God but don’t know where to start in reading it.
4 Simple Steps To Study the Word of God:
1. Be intentional
* When to read the Word of God
* Where you want to read the Bible
* What you want to read in the Bible
* use resources such as Youtube videos, Bible plans for a year, topical studies, book studies etc
2. Observation
* observe cause and effect
* cause and effect is an action and reaction. Look at this in Scripture
* Eg. Psalm 37:4- (cause) delight yourself in the Lord (effect) He will grant you the desires of your heart
3. Meditation
* Joshua 1:8- meditate on the Word of God day and night
* Meditation is not just memorizing but pondering the Word of God in our hearts, preaching it to your own soul
* Another part in meditation is to remember. The Holy Spirit reminds you of something you have read beforehand in the Word
* Why is meditation important? Psalm 1: 1-3 shows meditation on His Word makes us immovable and like a tree planted by streams of living water.
4. Application
* The power of God can only manifest in our lives when we apply (put into practice) what we have observed and meditated in the Word of God, which then gives direction to us. (Psalm 119:105)
We run after many sermons and prophecies (which isn’t wrong in of itself) but many of us fail to understand that the Bible is the basic foundation for living.
Our Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth (BIBLE). It is the authority and voice of God in our lives and everything we need for living.
Without the Word of God, we will all be paralyzed and crippled. Can we be like babies who desire the pure milk of the Word of God?
