To Be An Honourable and Sanctified Vessel of the Holy Spirit
Turn your attention to the letters to the churches from Jesus in the Book of Revelation. Jesus prophetically spoke through John of the conditions that could cripple the church.
In the *7 messages to the churches* , Jesus gave correction and commendation.
1. The Church of Epehsus: You’re Loyal but Loveless.
2. The Church of Smyrna: You’re Afflicted but Affluent.
3. The Church of Pergamos: You’re Faithful but Terribly Flawed Two Doctrines
4. The Church of Thyatira: You’re Committed but Utterly Compromised Jezebellic Spirit
5. The Church of Sardis: You’re Dynamic but Dying. No More Life in God
6. The Church of Philadelphia: You’re Small but Significant. A Faithful Church.
7. The Church of Laodiceans: You are Crowded but Christ-less. Lukewarm
For all these situations of correction, Jesus gives a solution. There is a way out of these spiritual predicaments which is listening to Jesus. (John 14:6)
When we have a ear for what the Spirit wants to say, then we will become an overcomer.
We are called to be an honourable and sanctified dwelling place for the Lord.
We are often call God our dwelling place. From another perspective, God made us His dwelling place. The God that heals and does supernatural miracles made us His dwelling place.
We are undoubtedly the dwelling place of God and need to be serious about presenting our vessels as vessels of honour and sanctification. God is Holy.
We as the church often compromise ourselves and can’t become a delightful dwelling place for the Lord and in turn hear His Voice.
God has decided to make us His dwelling place with the fullness of His Holy Spirit (Isaiah 66:1, 1 John 4:4, 1 Thessalonians 4: 3-4, Colossians 1:27, 1 Corinthians 3:16)
We defile our temple with compromise. How much can we play the fool with God before our sins plays the fool with us? We need the fear of the Lord (1 Corinthians 5:5)
Purpose of this Message:
To experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit and to enjoy the person of the Holy Spirit.
When the fullness of the Holy Spirit comes, our lives becomes full and every area that is broken, in chains or delayed is made whole.
The fullness of the Spirit of God is the totality of God. (Isaiah 11:2).
The fullness of the Holy Spirit brings restoration and deliverance to every area of our lives. That which is against you will begin to flow in line for you.
We need to desire the fullness of the Holy Spirit. We are not only filled with the Holy Spirit but then also become a dispenser of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is a very heart felt expression and experience of God the Father and Son. (John 16, Romans 8: 15)
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.””
Romans 8:14-15 NKJV
David describes the fullness of the Holy Spirit, which cries out “Abba Father”, as the joy of our salvation (Psalm 51: 10-12)
We can be joyful in every circumstance and that joy of the Lord is within us.
“The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.””
Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV
The coming of the Holy Spirit brought the joy, amazement and marvel of heaven to the earth. (Acts 2: 2-4)
The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in us.
“which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,”
Ephesians 1:20 NKJV
How do we become a vessel of sanctification that delights the Lord?
“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.” And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.”
John 1:29-32 NKJV
Jesus was a delightful vessel of the Holy Spirit.
The Lamb of God and the Dove
The nature of the dove (Holy Spirit) is gentle and lowly. (Matthew 11:29)
The Holy Spirit will lead us but will not force His way on us. The Holy Spirit looks for a vessel with the nature of a lamb (nature of Jesus).
The dove stayed upon the Lamb and did not leave. No matter what Jesus went through, He did not grieve or quench the Holy Spirit.
“He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.”
Isaiah 53:7 NKJV
Having the nature of the Jesus (nature of a lamb) means:
1. A surrendered heart to God. What is important to God is important to you (Galatians 2:20)
2. A selfless heart (John 12:24, Mark 10:45, Ephesians 5:21)
Let us desire to have the nature of a lamb, the nature of Jesus, with a surrendered and selfless heart.
