The Prayer of Inquiry
“Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.”
Psalms 127:1-2 NKJV
Jesus is not only the chief Cornerstone of our lives but also the chief contractor and protector.
““I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”
John 15:5 NKJV
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
The central truth is that without God, we cannot.
Anchor Scripture:
“Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went down to the stronghold. The Philistines also went and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” And the Lord said to David, “Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.” So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim. And they left their images there, and David and his men carried them away. Then the Philistines went up once again and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. Therefore David inquired of the Lord, and He said, “You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the Lord will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” And David did so, as the Lord commanded him; and he drove back the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer.”
II Samuel 5:17-25 NKJV
God will not lead us into defeat. David always inquired of the Lord and without God, he could not. He never took his past victories for granted and inquired of the Lord.
When we inquire of the Lord, we get victory through doing what the Lord says.
“One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.”
Psalms 27:4 NKJV
Even Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane prayed a prayer of inquiry.
“Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.””
Matthew 26:42 NKJV
Purpose of message:
What is God’s time and season for us in 2023?
It is never God’s intention that we should become a victim of this pandemic. His plan for us is still intact, even if delayed.
Do not be weary.
“Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:30-31 NKJV
God alone is worthy of waiting.
God is honored by your waiting and will reward you for your waiting.
Will we start praying?
Every season of our live is meant to be fruitful, effective and meaningful.
We need to start asking what God has for has in 2023. God has a new beginning and new strategy for you.
The plan of God for your life is still intact.
