Returning to The Word of God
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:1, 14 NKJV
When we say we are returning to the Word of God, we are saying we are returning to God and to Jesus.
It is important to be in the presence of God. When we experience His presence, we experience His love which causes us to return to our first love.
When we return to the Word, we are returning to experiencing the voice of God in our lives. We need to learn to hear the voice of God, especially in this time and season. God is always speaking to us.
A spontaneous thought or impressions in our mind when we are worshipping could very well be the voice of God.
The Word of God is alive to us in our present day. Jesus is alive and rose again and therefore His Word is alive to us.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
II Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV
All Scripture is inspired by God: this is His voice to us. He is alive and speaking to us.
profitable for doctrine: he reveals Himself to us. He is the “I Am” for us today. He will teach us how to live and abide with Him. It is bread to our spiritual life and strengthens us.
reproof: the Lord rebukes us to bring the best out of us. We need to respond to His rebuke. His rebuke makes us wise (Proverbs 15:5)
correction: The Word corrects us in the areas we are wrong, to make us more like Him. Our lives are continually transformed for His glory so that others will see Jesus.
instruction in righteousness: it is a guidance to us, living a life that is right before God. He help us to live in integrity, morality and honesty.
Return to the Word of God. Have intimacy with Him and grow with Him. What you hear, you must obey. As you hear, when you apply the Word, you will begin to grow.
Knowing the Word of God will help us be alert to deception. Being able to walk steadfastly involves returning to the Word.
You need to hear His voice through His Word.
