A Living Hope Through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Service Type:

Background of 1 Peter :
The scripture speaks of the intense persecution and suffering of the church during that time. Peter tells them not to be discouraged but tells them this is their defining hour and that it is temporary.

In their suffering, Peter is turning their attention to their position in Christ. Our position in determined in heaven. Our position in Christ is what determines our destiny.

(Read 1 Peter and 2 Peter in preparation of Good Friday and Easter)

1 Peter 1: 1-4

Your position in Christ cannot be corrupted by what you’re going through. Our position in Christ is what determines our destiny.

God has already elected you for His purpose and plan. Our position in Christ isn’t empty but where grace and peace are multiplied.

We have a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In these difficult times, be reminded of your unshakable confidence in God. Stay firm in your position in God. (1 Corinthians 15:58)

3 Dynamic Positions in Christ:
-You are -
1. Anchored in the election of the foreknowledge of the Father (Jeremiah 1:5, Ephesians 1:4, Matthew 16:19, Revelation 20:12, Psalm 139:16, John 15:16)

2. Anchored in the sanctification of the Holy Spirit (John 14:18, Romans 8:14) ~
a) We are kept by the presence of God
b) We are led by the presence of God
c) We are created for the fullness of His presence.

3. Anchored in the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus and the power of God. (Ephesians 1:7, Revelation 12:11, 1 John 1:9

If your position doesn’t provide the provision of God than it is just pseudo-position. This position comes with a dynamic provision. We have a living hope through the resurrection of Christ Jesus.(Romans 12: 11-12, Romans 5:5)

What is this living hope?
* This living hope (2 Corinthians 3:18) is the progressive, promoting will of God.
* It brings help to us (Hebrews 4:16)
* It gives us energy (Hebrews 12:1-2)

If we have this living hope and are anchored in the Godhead of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, than what manner of life are we called to live?
