A Renewed Mind

Speaker:
Service Type:

God, more than changing the external circumstances, is far more interested in changing our internal world.

The truth is when the internal is being changed and renewed, that is when we are transformed into the image of Christ.

Our brain controls various functions in our body; emotions, thoughts, physical aspects etc. God wants to renew the connections in our mind and transform us.

The Elephant Rope Story

- they are not held back by the rope but by their belief system.
- In what ways are we like the elephant?
- This is a lie from the pit of hell. God has already won the victory for us.
- We can leave the past behind and enter into 2022 without defeat

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Paul is addressing two major issues:

1. Don’t respond like how the world responds to situations. Don’t follow the pattern of this world.

2. Be transformed by the renewing of our mind.

Cause and Effect.

When we renew our mind, then we will be transformed.

The word renew in Greek is ‘Anakainoō’

This word means to resume to an original position after an interruption.

We have many, many interruptions from circumstances, sins and life etc. Our mind becomes corrupted. Yet He calls us to return to our original position as co-creators with Christ and what God intended for us.

We are beautiful, fearless, bold, strong, loved, chosen, wise, anointed, healed in God.

How do we then renew our mind?

1. Change our perspectives (Proverbs 23:7). Whatever we think is what we become. What you’re exposed to affects what you think about. What you think about affects who you are becoming. Think about the right things from God. (Philippians 4:8)

2. Feed our mind with truth and confess them. We often fill our minds with the filth of this world and false images. Feed our mind with the truths from the Word of God. (Matthew 4:4)

Facts Vs Truth

There are things that are factual but may not be truth.

Eg.
Fact: I am sick—Truth: I am healed in God

We do acknowledge the facts but the truth is what God says in His Word. Most of us stay in the facts but not going into the truth.
Can we ask the Holy Spirit for a shift and renewal of our mind?
