But You, O Lord
Today we are living an era where the world is seeking for an answer. We are living in era where everything is uncertain and the wisdom of man is at an end. Nothing has gone according to what we imagined for 2020.
How do you approach life when things begin to change? The facts may say things that are negative but the truths and reality of God remain true.
This is also a season which is very hard to trust God. We are playing the what “ifs” with the future. We are facing many things yet we have the “but You, O Lord.”
Psalm 3: 1-4
* This psalm is written by David
* This was written in His most traumatic, troubled moment
* His son was trying to kill David for his kingdom, after a series of challenging events
* As long as we are called, there will be challenges and battles in life
* David was complaining and singing to God from a place of fear (verse 1-2) on his journey to the Mount of Olives; the symbolic place of the presence of God.
* David had an understanding to run to the presence of God.
* In the place of pain, a new song began to arise in the presence of God
1. Lament in the presence of God in the middle of the trouble. Would you rather complain to someone or complain to God? Run to the presence of God and we begin to trust God. (Matthew 5:4) Do we have a “Mount of Olives” that we run to besides of God? Or is it your secret place with God?
2. Sometimes we feel forsaken by God. We may not recognize the presence of God but the presence of God recognizes us. We will go through suffering in this life. But God did promise His yoke light and easy; be of good cheer for He has overcome the world. (1 Peter 5:10, John 16:33)
3. Can we say, even in the midst of the uncertainties and troubles of life, “But You, O Lord” like David did? We change our perspective from our troubles to God.
1. God is our shield (Ps 18:2) We are more the conquerors.
2. God is our glory
3. God is the lifter of our heads. God wants us to lift our heads.
Romans 10:11:
whoever believes in Him will not be shame
Psalm 32:7- God is our hiding place.
