Generous Giving

Passage: Matthew 6: 33-34
Service Type:

One of the dynamic aspects of the Kingdom of God is the ministry of giving, which is an attribute and lifestyle of God. As God chose to give His Son, we have an access to the Father. (2 Corinthians 5:17, John 3:16, Romans 8: 31-32)

God in the Old Testament was presented as a God who receives. God in the New Testament is presented as a giver (Matthew 7: 7-8)

Purpose of this message:
God’s plan for our giving is generous giving. We need to become generous.

Proverbs 11: 24-25

Tithing declares the Lordship over our finances. This isn’t giving. Tithe’s is a worship to God.

The generous soul will be made rich. Wealth begets wealth, concern begets concern etc.

Giving always pleases God.

An example of generous giving is in the church of Philipi towards Paul(Philippians 4:15-17)

The fruit of your giving abounds in your account. The church gave generously to Paul in spite of the their need.

The inevitable result of generous giving is God supplying all our needs according His riches in glory. (Philippians 4:19)
In the Words of Jesus, it is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35)

2 Dynamic Results of Generous Giving
[whether in time, gifting, love, finances, talent, commitment etc]

1. When we are generous, we will be made rich (Proverbs 11:25, 2 Corinthians 9: 10-11)

2. Our needs will not visit us again. The place where God blesses cannot be cursed. (Philippians 4:19, 1 Kings 17: 15-16)

Luke 6: 38 reveals a powerful truth for any kind of giving we do. God blesses and gives to us generously.
