Resurrection Life
Bible Text: 2 Peter 3: 11-12 | Preacher: Bro. Richard Yap | Everything that we know in this world will be dissolved and removed eventually
The purpose of this message is to spur us on to personal readiness, Holiness and checking the personal pillars of our faith.
What we are going through with the MCO is nothing compared to the persecution the early church faced. Paul was one who suffered greatly and frequently imprisoned. (2 Corinthians 11: 22-27)
Jerusalem and the Holy temple was torn down by the Roman Empire. Our faith is not based on temporal structures and buildings. But in the middle of suffering, the Gospel went forward. We cannot look at the world structures that are fading away.
It’s an unprecedented time of quietness here and around the world. A standstill caused by Covid 19. It’s also a time of awakening for the churches.
The early church disturbed the establishment of the day, particularly the Sadducees who opposed the teaching of resurrection. Yet many came to know the Lord even in the midst of the difficulties. Harvest can happen in great trials( Acts 4: 1-4)
The disciples were empowered by being witnesses to the resurrection. We can live with that boldness in believe of the resurrection; that same power lives in us. (Acts 5: 30-32)
1 Corinthians 15: 13-18: taking away the resurrection from our faith makes our faith futile. The resurrection power of Christ is what transforms us.
Jesus was raised from the dead, giving us forgiveness of sins. The resurrection life is for our daily life and our ministries; the power to live the way Christ wants us to.(Ephesians 1: 18-20)
We are people whom God has saved.
In this resurrection affirmation, death is conquered. When a believer talks about death, we don’t face death and speak of it with fear or superstition but with normalcy. (2 Timothy 2 1: 8-12, John 11:25-26)
It’s not as important how we die but how we have lived.
We have a living hope in Christ and in His resurrection (1 Peter 1:3)
The resurrection also affirms our mission to the world. It is a year greater harvest and we will see a harvest coming in in the midst of the crisis.
We have to be assured that God will do His thing in His time. A time of dissolving, shaking and refining. (Hebrews 12:27)
We are being awakened to the most essential things of life. The most important thing is the resurrection life. (Galatians 2:20)
We must redeem this time given in this partial lockdown for missions (2 Peter 3:9)
Please stop fretting and going back to the old routines. We need to listen to what God is saying. Dealing with unresolved issues, unforgiveness, dissolving of things that have held us etc.
We want to become a people who are unshaken and with a good confession in Christ (1 Timothy 6: 11-12)
2 Peter 3: 17-18 : when we know things about the resurrection, we should beware and hold fast to it and grow.
