Resurrection Sunday is All About The Power of the Obedience of Christ

Service Type:

If Jesus was not obedient, we would not have Good Friday and Easter. Communion is a result of Jesus’ obedience.

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭5:21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The righteousness of God is a living thing.

“For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Main Scripture:
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”
‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭10:3-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We cannot have our obedience fulfilled without the obedience of Christ (Hebrews 12:2).

Purpose:

We all suffer from the disease of disobedience. Our obedience cannot be complete without the obedience of Christ.

Jesus prayed for the cup of suffering to pass from Him in the garden of Gethsemane. In that moment, God the Father empowered Jesus to obey. Jesus prayed not His will but God the Father’s will be done.

The five types of obedience:

1. Partial obedience is disobedience. King Saul didn’t obey in destroying the enemy completely as instructed. (1 Kings 15:3)

2. Reluctant obedience. Jonah refused to preach to Nineveh and grumbled when he did, even when the city received salvation. (Jonah 4:1).

3. Delayed obedience is disobedience. Abraham didn’t leave his nation fully behind and had his family follow him. Abraham forfeited many days of his life. He came to edge of the promise land but did not enter. (Genesis 12: 1-4, 13-14)

4. Forced obedience is disobedience . Peter reluctantly said yes to the call of God (Mark 10: 28-30). Are we forced to serve God?

5. God loves absolute obedience. It cannot take place unless there is willingness in our heart. (Isaiah 1:19)

Obedience is the password for all our breakthroughs. (John 8:32).

There is more freedom and joy in obedience than in disobedience.

Obedience promotes a surrendered heart. Disobedience causes a cluttered heart.

Disobedience keeps us from living a full life that Christ intended for us.

Obedience is the act of worship to God. True obedience comes naturally from a place of a praise filled heart. (Psalm 40:8, Romans 12: 1-2, Genesis 22: 5) We are qualified in our obedience to Christ; an aroma of worship to Christ (2 Corinthians 2:14).
