The Greatest Commission

Speaker:
Service Type:

We are not gathered in church because we need to but because it is a privilege to be gathered in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God is an unlimited God. Whatever we are going through and though we have limited resources, he hears our prayers and will come through for us. He will never leave nor forsake us.

Be encouraged and don’t believe that you are victim but are victor.

We all have heard of the great commission in Matthew 28:19. It is for everyone and not just church leaders and pastors. We are called to fulfill this commission.

Did you know that before the great commission there is a greater commission?

“Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons:”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭3:14-15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Before the disciples were commissioned to go forth, they were called to be with Jesus.
The greatest commission of a believer is to be with Jesus. The primary call of a believer is to be in a relationship and in a journey with Jesus.

Before we are appointed we must be anointed, which comes from being with Jesus in order to do the works of God.
We become like the One we behold.

A greater harvest cannot take place unless there is a greater consecration. (Joshua 3:5, Matthew 6:33)

God is going to take us beyond anything we could ask or imagine (Jeremiah 33:3)
We need to develop a greater hunger in our personal prayer life and the secret place with God.

God will come through for us when we have hunger for Him in the secret place.

Seeing the greater commission before the great commission causes us to see talking about Jesus not as a duty but as a privilege.

Choosing to be in the presence of God draws Him near to us.

We remember David as a King and for his great exploits but rarely remember him as the shepherd boy keeping sheep. The prophet Samuel, by the leading of God, anointed David as king. This happened even though his father overlooked him when he brought all his other sons before Samuel.

However, David did not rule as king immediately. He went back to his initial assignment. God knew David was tending sheep as preparation for tending the sheep (the people) of God. Through this time with the sheep, David worshipped God.

It was in the wilderness where David cultivated intimacy with God. It is in the valley that God grows intimacy with us.

Whatever need or prayer we have, if we choose to surrender to God, He becomes the answer.

Where do we begin with being with Jesus?

1. Start small, start somewhere. Don’t despise the small beginnings.

2. Stay committed, be consistent. We are here for the long run.

3. Don’t endure Him but enjoy Him and the process.
