The Purpose of Prayer
The Lord is inviting us into the importance and purpose of prayer.
Electricity is very important and is the flow of electrical power that allows appliances to run. This power will not be manifest in the appliance unless there is a point of contact and the switch is turned on.
Likewise, we need a point or contact between us and God. We fail to see the manifestation of His power because of a lack of prayer.
The One whom we pray to is powerful. The source of answered is God.
The point of contact is prayer.
If there is no prayer or contact with God, we don’t get what God has intended for us.
God has deposited many things, destiny, purpose call, that are available only when we withdraw on these thing and His benefits. These are only available in prayer.
It is to release what God has decided in heaven over our lives. To agree with what God has decided over our lives.
“Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:10 NKJV
1. Prayer is the transaction between heaven and earth. Prayer is not just building intimacy but also partnering with God’s will being released from heaven in the earth.
““Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Matthew 18:18 NKJV
Before heaven can do something on earth, the earth (us) does something in agreement with heaven through prayer.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;”
Philippians 4:6 NKJV
Prayer is a key to a door that is locked which unlocks the door.
Prayer is agreeing with what God has already has for us. We should keep praying until we understand what God’s will is.
The secret of our success is being on our knees in prayer.
The outcome of Philippians 4:6 is 4:7
“and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7 NKJV
No matter what comes our way our what we don’t understand, prayer is what gives us peace and the pressure is on the Lord Jesus, the only one who can handle the pressure.
2. Prayer is a participation with God in outworking His plan over our lives through prayer.
“So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.”
Ezekiel 22:30 NKJV
““Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.”
II Kings 20:5 NKJV
God is looking for someone who will partner with Him.
“Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.”
James 5:17-18 NKJV
What do you do when you pray and you don’t see an answer?
“Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,”
Luke 18:1 NKJV
Don’t lose heart in prayer.
