There Is Power In Testimonies

Sharing what the Lord has done for us releases an atmosphere of faith into the room. Every day is a good day to hear testimonies.

Hearing what the Lord has been doing helps up to return to hope once again; it’s like honey to our soul. It is a joy to hear testimonies as it is the evidence of what God is doing and Him moving.

There is no such thing as a big or small testimony. Even the smallest thing is a divine intervention of the Lord in our lives. Only when we share the testimonies do we understand the significance of them.

When we share testimonies:

1. We are releasing the reality of heaven on earth (2 Timothy 1: 7-8, Proverbs 18:21)

Releasing testimonies releases the Holy Spirit into the atmosphere to do it again.

In Acts 22, Paul was persecuted and nearly killed but was saved by the soldiers. He then used to the opportunity to share his testimony to the crowd.

“And all the city was disturbed; and the people ran together, seized Paul, and dragged him out of the temple; and immediately the doors were shut. Now as they were seeking to kill him, news came to the commander of the garrison that all Jerusalem was in an uproar. He immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them. And when they saw the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul. Then as Paul was about to be led into the barracks, he said to the commander, “May I speak to you?” He replied, “Can you speak Greek? Are you not the Egyptian who some time ago stirred up a rebellion and led the four thousand assassins out into the wilderness?” But Paul said, “I am a Jew from Tarsus, in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city; and I implore you, permit me to speak to the people.” So when he had given him permission, Paul stood on the stairs and motioned with his hand to the people. And when there was a great silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying,”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭21:30-32, 37-40‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

If we are in Paul’s shoes, we probably can’t comprehend asking permission to address the crowd that tried to kill him.

Paul started sharing his testimony of his past where he was a Pharisee and a Jew, a persecutor of the early church. He told his real story even though it wasn’t glorious. A credible and reliable story.(Acts 22: 1-5).

Paul then explains how Jesus came into his life and turned it around. (Acts 22: 6-16) the turn around was so massive that he knew he had to live his life for Jesus.

This is what compelled Paul to share his testimony even in the midst of persecution. He knew what was most important, even willing to give up his life for the sake of the Gospel so many could be saved. (Acts 20:24).

2. We are stepping out in faith and also in risk

Are we willing to take risks for God, just like Paul? There are times when we have to let go of the things that matter most to us or even our egos so that one person will get saved through our testimony.

We should all ask for that one touch and consistent, committed communion of God for ourselves and the lives of those around us. (John 15:5)

3. We don’t have to be profound to be powerful
Every believer has a story to tell and boldly declare our new life in Jesus. Our testimony is not a product to sell as Jesus sacrificed His life and demonstrated His love for that testimony to happen. That testimony has power. All we need to do is be bold.

You don’t have to have a dramatic story to have a testimony. The most dramatic story was Jesus dying on the Cross to demonstrate His love.

The most dramatic story is when we start to share the good news of the Gospel.

Paul was clear about his purpose and calling of preaching the Gospel and his testimony in spite of circumstances. (Romans 10:14)

There is someone who needs to hear our story so that what happened to us can happen for them. (Isaiah 61:1)

May this become our heart cry for our friends, family and our generation to hear the Gospel and our testimonies and be saved.
