Beholding Jesus
Jesus loves when we talk about Him. He wants undivided hearts for Him.
There is a difference between knowing about a person and knowing the person. Knowing a person means knowing their heart and their deepest thoughts.
The question to ask is this:
Do we know about Jesus or do we know Jesus?
The people who know about Jesus:
The Pharisees watched Jesus do signs, wonders and healing and observed Him but never really knew Him (Luke 13: 12-14)
The Pharisees did not understand the heart of Jesus and the compassion behind His healing. They focused on what the Law was saying but lost sight of the Master and Savior.
The rich younger ruler (Mark 10:21-22) did not understand the heart of Jesus in giving up everything to Him. When giving everything up, we gain much more blessings. Only someone who surrenders will know the heart of the Father.
In today’s generation we have everything we need but fail to have a person relationship with Him.
Knowing who Jesus is changes everything about us because He becomes everything to us.
Let us not know about Jesus but come to know Jesus.
The people who knew Jesus:
Before this woman who was a sinner walked into the house, she knew about Jesus(Luke 37:38) but she began to behold Him and weep at the feet of Jesus. A divine exchange occurred in that moment; her sinfulness to righteousness.
Jesus’ heart is open to know and behold Him
The blind man didn’t know Jesus (Mark 10: 46-47) but He cried out to Jesus who had the heart of a Father. Jesus healed Him and his eyes were opened. He was changed.
Gazing into the eyes of the Master is to see the eyes of Jesus.
When we find the ones who can’t stop talking about Jesus and His goodness, keep them close.
What do we have to say about Jesus? Will we be able to tell others about Jesus?
Saul became Paul and His entire life changed when He encountered Jesus. He counted all things has rubbish for the sake of knowing Jesus. This sort of transformation only happens when we behold Jesus. (Philippians 3:7-10)
It is time to pass on Jesus to the next generation. Do we carry the Jesus we know about or the Jesus we behold?
Until we experience the love of Jesus and behold Him, we will never step out to tell about Him. We only can talk about Someone we are in love with Him.
Behold Jesus so that out children and their children’s children will experience His presence.
If we forget everything else remember this: Behold the face of Jesus
