Book Of Acts- The Unstoppable Church
When the Holy Spirit come, the Spirit does bless us, comfort us, etc.
Yet, when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, based on the Book of Acts, we shall become His witnesses. This is the primary function, along with many others, of the Holy Spirit.
The mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit took place in the upper room om in the Book of Acts.
Now as present day believers, how do we maintain and keep the outpouring of the Holy Spirit? It is our responsibility and when we do maintain this flow, the church becomes unstoppable.
The church back then moved in a slightly different concept from most churches today. They were filled with the Holy Spirit, move in signs and wonders and were a community that took care of the needs of all. Even when the apostles faced difficulties, they were unstoppable church.
Nowadays, even over the inconveniences that happen in church, we walk away or become hurt. We have forgotten the concept of what church is and have become a stoppable church.
The church is not a place, it is a movement. In the Book of Acts, the church was an assembly of people around one mission. God made the church for His mission.
Let’s come back to the original concept of church.
Five Descriptions of an Unstoppable Church
An Unstoppable Church is…
1. A church who loves and obeys the Word of God.
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
Acts 2:42 NKJV
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
James 1:22 NKJV
2. A church that gives themselves to each other.
There is a covenant friendship, Kingdom covering and fellowship for each other in the church.
3. A praying church.
This church understands their dependence on God, acknowledging Him as our source. Coming together to the place of intense prayer for the nation.
4. A united church.
The devil hates unity. If he can break our unity, he can break the Body of Christ. When the the Body comes together in unity, there is power released. The church in the Book of Acts was powerful because of their unity.
“Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common,”
Acts 2:44 NKJV
“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.”
Acts 2:1 NKJV
5. A generous church.
The church is unselfish and not self-centered, constantly looking to the needs of others and having social concern for the community.
“and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.”
Acts 2:45 NKJV
“Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”
