Each One of Us Have A Function In the Body of Christ

Service Type:

Moses, after 40 years in the wilderness, has an encounter with God in the burning bush. God makes a promise that He will come to deliver the Israelites from slavery and bring them to the promise land.

Moses is 85 years old and out of touch with everything. There is a war between ability and availability.

God calls according to your availability and then appoints, anoints and equips.

God calls Moses to deliver the people. Moses is fearful.
We either give God excuses or assignments.

Moses asks if the people will believe him and made a series of excuses which God counters with His answers.

God gets frustrated by Moses in this.

Moses had no way of turning down the call of God. The call of God upon our lives is our destiny.

In line with the church rebuilding and recruiting, we are reading this passage.

“So the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.” And He said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭4:2-3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Two prophetic interpretations of this verse.

1. God is wanting to turn what is natural in your hands to be blessed and become supernatural. This only happens when we give it to God.

2. When you give what you have in your hands to God, God invades that area. God then builds in not only your destiny but the destiny of the people.

The rod in Moses’ hand went from a shepherd’s rod to the rod of God.

Each one of us have a function in the body of Christ and in that function there is a gift.

“For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:4-8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

There many gifts that the church of God is waiting to receive.

“Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
‭‭I Peter‬ ‭4:9-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Functions must be used. That’s why the church cannot be spectators or consumers but participators and givers.

God is recruiting us to rebuild the body of Christ and Kingdom of God.

Purpose of this message:

None of us redundant or unwanted in the body of Christ. This is out birthright. We have been created and prepared beforehand for good works.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The work permit from God is the thing that defines our function.
If we’re not serving, out work permit will not receive the rewards that are meant for us.

When Jesus met the disciples, He said this:

“No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15:15-16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We all have the DNA to serve the Lord from our conception in heaven.

“I’m a little pencil in the hand of a writing God, who is sending a love letter to the world.”- Mother Teresa

We are a called out people. The only way that call can be fulfilled is when we step out.

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;”
‭‭I Peter‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭NKJV
